Supporting female triathletes through the menopausal transition requires specialised knowledge, practical tools, and confident communication. This evidence-based CPD course equips coaches and practitioners to confidently support female athletes aged 35–70+ across pre-menopause, peri-menopause, and post-menopause.

Expert Module Leads
Module 1 – Female Physiology Across the Lifespan
Kristina Skroče

PhD candidate in Clinical Medicine and Biomedicine with a background in Sports Science and Physical Performance, Kristina serves as an exercise physiologist and lab coordinator at Thalassotherapia Opatija Hospital and Head of Performance for the Croatian Paralympic Committee.
With experience supporting elite athletes, including Paralympic competitors, she brings deep expertise in exercise physiology, glucose dynamics, and performance monitoring — providing the scientific foundation for understanding hormonal transitions and their impact on performance.
Module 2 – Health & Medical Considerations for Menopausal Athletes
Irina Zelenkova

MD, PhD, and IOC Diploma Sport Physician with over 10 years in elite sport. Irina has prepared athletes for World Championships, World Cup stages, and the Olympic Games.
Her module addresses medical considerations including cardiovascular health, bone density, RED-S risk, anti-doping compliance, and safe performance optimisation during menopause.
Module 3 – Training Adaptation, Strength & Recovery
Esther Morencos

PhD in Sport & Exercise Sciences and Strength & Conditioning specialist with over 15 years in elite women’s sport, including work with the Spanish Women’s National Field Hockey Team (Tokyo Olympic cycle).
Esther integrates research and applied practice to guide coaches on load management, strength integration, and recovery strategies tailored to hormonal changes.
Module 4 – Nutrition for Menopausal Triathletes
Nicholas Willsmer

Senior Lecturer in Sports Performance at the University of Bath with expertise spanning physiology, nutrition, strength & conditioning, and performance management.
Nicholas has supported athletes in triathlon, swimming, canoe slalom, athletics, and women’s football — including Olympic-level preparation. This module explores metabolic shifts, fuelling strategies, body composition, and applied nutrition planning for menopausal endurance athletes.
Module 5 – Mental Health & Performance Mindset
Holly Benner

Leadership and performance coach, organizational strategist, and former professional triathlete. Holly blends the science of performance with the human side of sport.
She addresses mindset shifts, identity, resilience, motivation, and how coaches can create psychologically safe environments during hormonal transition.
Module 6 – Communication, Safeguarding & Athlete-Centred Coaching
Fenella Ng

Former elite swimmer and rower with a 20-year international career, including Asian Games medals and World Championship competition.
Now coaching in swimming and triathlon, Fenella focuses on athlete-centred practice, safeguarding standards, and effective communication around sensitive health topics.
