Dear Athletes,
This is the final week of my emails for 2020! Thank you for being a part of them.
I will resume early in 2021.
The World Triathlon Development team would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and safe Christmas and New Year and we all look forward to working with you throughout 2021.
This week we are going to look back at what we have learnt….
- It is worth looking back at email 1 – planning season 2020 here (https://education.triathlon.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=1191) because the advice is still relevant. As we see out 2020 and plan for 2021, we still need to create new routines, be flexible to change and always remember to look after ourselves.
- Plan your personal brand – through April and May I sent a series of emails regarding the planning you should take with regard to your value to sponsors. The first email of this series can be found here - https://education.triathlon.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=1214 Now is the time to really plan this vital area of your racing career.
- Through June I sent some emails regarding my theories on racing and training. These were designed to provoke thought and possibly get you to consider alternative ways of racing as you develop as an athlete. I am an advocate that fitness is the key to performance, so many of my theories rely on a solid fitness base (through technique and skill and using tough training environments not overusing volume). You can read the first of the series here - https://education.triathlon.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=1302
- In September I spent a lot of time on the bike discipline of triathlon. Many athletes are losing some valuable time in the discipling that makes up the largest portion of a triathlon. I urge you to read these tips and emails regarding advice, because gaining valuable time on the bike is very important – it can completely change the way you race. The emails start here - https://education.triathlon.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=1388
- Between these key topics, there were various nutrition tips, wellbeing tips and some end of season tips. The entire list of emails can be browsed here - https://education.triathlon.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=6150
I hope the series of emails has provided you with a source of information. If you have any areas you would like me to discuss in 2021, please let me know.
See you next year.
Emma
